A good resource to check out is the HELP/FAQ section under the Main Menu of Bakery Story.

What is a Storm8 ID and why do I need it?
Basically, it's a way to identify yourself within any of the Storm8 franchise of games.  With one user-name, you can play in any of the social games that fall under the Storm8 platform.

Can I change my Storm8 ID?
No - so make an ID that you like that won't be embarrassing later on.

How do I receive gifts?
In order to receive gifts, you need to have neighbors.  Users have the option to send a gift daily to their neighbors.

Is there a limit of gifts I can receive?
There is an upper limit of 20 gifts per day.  In order to make sure you get 20 gifts daily, it is advised to have a minimum of 40 neighbors since there is no guarantee that each neighbor will send out a gift daily.  In essence, the more neighbors, the better!

There is no limit on how many neighbors you can send a gift to.  The only limit is one gift to a neighbor per day.

How do I add neighbors?
Under "Social", go to the "Invite Friends" tab.  There you have to manually enter in another user's Storm8 ID.  Often, people who visit your bakery will post their Storm8 ID onto your wall so check it out from time to time.  You can also provide your Storm8 ID to others by posting it onto their wall - once they add you, you will gain a neighbor.  Also, posting your Storm8 ID onto another player's wall will allow others to add you through your post  It's an effective way to gain neighbors.

How do I find out how many more XPs I need to proceed to the next level?
Under the "Messages" section, press the "Profile" tab.  There you will see profile information including your bakery name, # of XPs to next level, social status level, # of neighbors, and restaurant rating.

Should I sell or store excess furniture, appliances, and other accessories?
Given that you only receive a fraction of the coins it costs to buy the excess item in the first place, it is advised that you store away any extra items just in case you might want to use it in the future.

Wish List

Dear TeamLava,

Though Bakery Story is a fun game to play, there are a few simple changes that can be made that would drastically improve the user interface.  Below are the top 6 changes that would make the experience with Bakery Story more enjoyable:

1. Have a send gift to ALL neighbors option.  Just like you can send out mass texts out to friends, you should be able to send a gift to all your neighbors at once.  Let's be practical - it's not like you are going send out a different gift to each and every neighbor.  Also, you probably won't manually sort through your long list of neighbors and choose your favorites to send a gift to.  If there was a "send all" option, it would eliminate time spent on a rather tedious part of the game.

2.  Likewise, have a receive ALL gifts from neighbors option.  Same reasoning with the one above.  It seems monotonous to just continually press "Accept" gift.  It's even worse when you haven't played Bakery Story in a week and all of a sudden you have 140 gifts waiting for you.  Also, it seems like it would be rare for anyone playing Bakery Story to "Decline" a gift from a neighbor considering that it is free and you only get to receive 20 gifts per day.  It is rather ambiguous why TeamLava even added that feature.

3.  Have an instant "Add Neighbor" option.  There should be an effortless way to add a neighbor that seems worthy - just like the way you add friends on Facebook.  Just imagine how much easier it would be if you could just press an "Add Neighbor" button when you visit another bakery.  Storm8 IDs are a pain to enter in manually since they are just like user names for emails - they seem random and rather troublesome for short-term memory users to remember.

4.  Add more appliances.  Bakery story kind of gets old only being able to use 2 appliances: oven and drink mixer.  Even Restaurant Story has 3 appliances.  There's a need for diversity even in a relatively simple game.

5.  Add more food options in the cookbook.  There is always excitement when there's a new food to prepare.  However, it seems like the further you progress with levels in Bakery Story, the less frequent it becomes for a new food item to show in your cookbook.

6.  Add a checkings/savings system for coins and most especially jewels.  There are surely many users that have mistakenly used hard earned jewels to recover a spoiled dish with just one too many taps on the touch screen.  Just like a bank account - there should be a way to store away coins and jewels into another account that will add a level of security.  That way, mistakes won't occur on the user's end as often and even they do occur, it is the user's fault for not securing his/her assets.
